Did you catch this week’s episode of the GBE podcast? We caught up with blogger, podcaster, Youtuber and influencer Karly Polkosnik about her journey from part-time content creator to full-time social media star✨
Here are our top 5 favourite insights from the episode...
As long as you know how to record audio and how to put out an episode, that’s all you need to get started! It should evolve naturally from there. A lot of the gurus would have you believe it’s mega complicated, but it’s not. Once you master the upload via RSS feed (a feed which uploads the podcast simultaneously to Google, Apple etc), you’re good to go.
When it comes to posting on social media, you’ve just got to find your own personal routine and stick with it. For Karly this means posting every second day, but for others this may be less. Just remember, every post is an opportunity for growth. Start small and keep taking on more slowly until you find your groove.
There’s nothing worse than meeting someone you follow online and realising they’re NOTHING like they’re presenting themselves online. Karly believes it’s important to share her true self with people and has faith that the right people will find her online and the wrong people will leave. Being okay with this principle will help you show up more confidently and authentically online.
There’s a lot of pressure to get things right first-time when it comes to your career, but actually your late teens and early twenties are the perfect time to experiment and try new things. Make the most of this time where you have fewer responsibilities and the ability to change and pivot whenever you want. So many people fall victim to societal pressures, but it’s okay to just do whatever for a while and see where it takes you.
There are so many ways to create meaningful relationships with other women and to support them. Beyond monetary support, Karly also likes to show up at her friends’ events and wear / model their products on her platform. In a society which so often pits women against each other, it’s about finding ways to come together and lift each other up.
These are just some of our favourite takeaways... but there’s so much more goodness in the episode itself! ✨
