Member Highlight - Amanda Neri Fitness Business + Her Pilates Routine

Member Highlights is our very special program where we help our students to showcase their businesses and projects to a larger audience.

Today, we are pleased to introduce Amanda Neri!

Amanda has founded a company called Alma Vita. Having a background in physical therapy, a good set of brains (she is earning her Doctorate) and quite some courage, she launched an online fitness coaching business. As with any business, it was quite a journey, but with an attitude to positively impact as many lives as possible she has no shortage of clients. We did a Q&A with her, and you can find her answers below. Under the answers, she even shared one of her Pilates videos, that will help you to relieve your stress and relax your body.


When did you first start Alma Vita?

I started Alma Vita in June, 2020. I have been training clients for years and decided to take the plunge to open my own business :)

What inspired you to build Alma Vita?

Mostly other amazing women! I saw them killing it and running their own businesses and I had to give it a shot.

Is it virtual or do you have a brick & mortar?

All virtual babyyy.

What are you currently working on? 

I’m currently working on designing the best possible programs for my clients. I’m trialing a few different training apps and getting feedback from everyone as we go so I can adapt and make my programs as user-friendly as possible.

What is your favorite part about Alma Vita?

My favorite part of Alma Vita is that it’s super accessible! I think virtual training is becoming more and more popular as peoples’ lives get busier and they want something they can do from home. It also keeps people going during these COVID-19 gym closures.

How do you stay motivated?

I keep a schedule and made a habit of working toward my goals. There are always days that I’m less motivated than others, but by now my body is programmed to get the work done :)

What is your go-to pump up song?

Oof that’s a tough one. I’d still have to go with Despacito.

What is your WHY that gives you a needed push when things get tough?

My WHY is that I want to support myself independently from anywhere, and help as many people as possible!

What does a day in the life of Alma Vita look like for you?

I usually workout in the morning, create some content for my instagram feed, have a couple consultations and make programs in the evening :)

How do you hope Alma Vita impacts people/the world?

I hope my training creates independence among those who utilize my services. My goal is not to help people change their bodies in a few weeks then have them stop once our work is done. I want to help others consciously make fitness a habit they LOVE to take part in for their entire lives :)

How do you envision Alma Vita’s growth?

It’s already looking pretty great! I think when you’re genuine about what you’re offering clients and followers come naturally. I’m so excited for what’s to come!

What are some roadblocks you’ve encountered & how do you overcome them?

A lack of patience is definitely a roadblock for me. There’s also a huge learning curve when creating a website. Whenever I encountered a roadblock I would focus on things I was better at, like creating content. But I quickly learned that this isn’t the best approach which is when keeping a schedule definitely came in handy!

If someone asked to be your apprentice and learn all that you know, what would you teach them?

I would need a few years to teach them all the exercise science I’ve studied! But I would start by focusing on the connection between the body and mind, the benefits of fitness and why it’s SO important to make it a daily part of our lives :)

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

In ten years, I envision a mix of working clinically and continuing to train clients online. I truly want to make a change in people’s lives, and I feel very excited about the career path I’ve chosen.

If a girl reading this is thinking about starting her own business, what advice would you have for her?

JUST START ALREADY. Even if it flops you will learn so much from the process and then when you start another business years from now, you’ll be better off for it. I’d also recommend buying the Empire Building Masterclass especially if social media marketing is new to you!

Which female character from what movie would you be?

Elizabeth Swan - and my childhood dreams would come true

What are your hobbies?

I love hiking, singing, playing piano, cooking, photography and traveling :)

If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?

Kangaroos. Just a hunch.

In one sentence, how would you sum up the internet?

The internet is a source of information for us to take and run with, the possibilities are endless!

What two totally normal things become really weird if you do them back to back?

Hmm showering then going for a run?
